You asked, We answered! (What to look for in a planner)

What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

Meet with the event planner to ensure you see eye to eye. It is important that while personalities may differ, that the planner can see your vision and help you to achieve it! Also select a planner that fits your needs. The right planner will be prepared with the proper tools and experience to make your event a success! what they do!

If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

It’s all about networking! Event planners have the inside grasp on the latest and greatest because of their network of vendors and professionals. Most people have to Google or find vendors through word of mouth, but planners have learned the best through experience of actually working with vendors and experiencing their services first hand.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right event planner?

1. How can you be reached? (email, phone, in person) 2. What kind of notice do you need to request a meeting? 3. How long have you been in the business? 4. How small/large of an event have you planned? 5. Have you only worked through conventional venues or have you been able to design a space from the ground up? 6. What vendors do you prefer to work with? 7. What back up plan is in place should you be out the day of my event? 8. What additional charges could apply if I need additional services/assistance?

What important information should clients have thought through before seeking you out?

The most common question is “Can we really afford to spend the money on a planner and not somewhere else in the wedding/event?”

Only you can decide that in the end, however when hosting one of the most important celebrations of your lifetime, do you want to be able to sit back and enjoy the day? You are truly the guests of honor, so remember to be present that day.

Most people are able to prioritize and systematically get things done from a list, but when it comes to the day of the event or the month before, there is an increasing amount of pressure in double checking the final details.

You owe it to yourself to enjoy the experience.

Event planners should be looked at like a dress, venue or cake – as a necessity. You may not need them every second of every day, but you will want them to double check your efforts, manage your vendors and guide you through the process.

Most important of all - the best wedding planner is one that still gets excited about what they do!
